Ibu-bapa kepada kanak-kanak berumur 2 tahun yang
mempunyai tempurung kepala yang tidak normal,
yang telah dibedah pada 20hb Mei
2008, menyatakan rasa berterima kasih kepada
kerajaan Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia dan
Kementerian Kesihatan di atas kejayaan
pembedahannya. Tempurung kepala kanak-kanak itu
telah dibentuk semula dan diubah-suai supaya
otak kanak-kanak tersebut boleh terus berkembang
secara normal. Kumpulan Perubatan Hospital RIPAS
yang diketuai oleh Professor David Staffenberg,
konsultan pelawat ke Jabatan Maxillo Facial dan
Pembedahan Plastik Facial, terdiri daripada
Assoc. Prof Dr. N. Ravindranathan, Dr Haji
Haroon (Neurosurgeri), Dr Suresh (Pediatrik), Dr
Rohayati Taib (Pediatrik), Dr Mohan Ramalingam
(Ophthalmologi), Dr Nair (Anesthesiologi),
Matron Haji Rosli, Sister Haji Mohammad dan Md
Husin.
Professor David Staffenberg, peneraju bidang pembedahan
pembentukkan tempurung kepala tidak normal
bertaraf dunia, di Institut Perubatan Albert
Einstein (Albert Einstein Medical Institution),
New York, Amerika Syarikat, sangat terpegun
dengan kemudahan-kemudahan yang terdapat di
Hospital RIPAS. Beliau sangat berpuas hati
dengan pembedahan dan komitmen para Pediatrik
yang menjaga kanak-kanak tersebut selepas
pembedahan dijalankan.
Dalam mengembangkan perkhidmatan-perkhidmatan berteknologi
tinggi/canggih, Kementerian Kesihatan baru-baru
ini mendatangkan seorang pakar dari Perancis
bagi menjalankan bengkel secara langsung (live
workshop) mengenai pembedahan tulang
belakang. Professor James Garrity, antara pakar
lain yang di datangkan dari Mayo Clinic, Amerika
Syarikat telah membuat lawatan pada Januari 2008
bagi kerjasama menjalankan pembedahan ‘eye bone
complex’ di Hospital RIPAS dengan usahasama/kerjasama
Jabatan Maxillo Facial dan Pembedahan Plastik
Facial.

Grateful parents expressing gratitude to the
Ministry of Health
Parents of a 2
year old child with an abnormal skull, who was
operated on 20th May 2008, expressed their
gratitude to His Majesty’s government and the
Ministry of Health for the successful operation.
The skull has been reshaped and re-modified so
the brain can continue normal development. The
RIPAS team led by Professor David Staffenberg,
visiting consultant to the Department of Maxillo
Facial and Facial Plastic Surgery, consisted of
Assoc. Prof Dr. N. Ravindranathan, Dr Haji
Haroon (Neurosurgery), Dr Suresh (Paediatrics),
Dr Rohayati Taib (Paediatrics), Dr Mohan
Ramalingam (Ophthalmology) Dr Nair (Anaesthesiology),
Matron Haji Rosli, Sister Haji Mohammad and
theatre circulator, Md Hussin.
Professor David Staffenberg, a world leading
authority in the surgery for shaping abnormal
skulls at Albert Einstein Medical Institution,
New York, USA, was extremely impressed with the
facilities at RIPAS Hospital. He was most
impressed with the operation and the commitment
of the paeditricians who helped to look after
the baby after the surgery. Visiting Consultant
Professor David Staffenberg has been listed as
one of America’s top doctors in the New York
Metro Area. In 2004, he received the Mayor of
New York’s award for Excellence on Science &
Technology and was invited recently the Great
Ormond Street Hospital in United Kingdom to
carry out separation of conjoined twins which
was successfully done.
In evolving such high technology services,
recently Ministry of Health sponsored an expert
from France to conduct a live workshop on spine
surgery. Another eminent expert from Mayo
Clinic, USA, Professor James Garrity visited in
January 2008 to collaborate in carrying out
complex eye bone operations at RIPAS Hospital in
collaboration with the Department of Maxillo
Facial and Facial Plastic Surgery.
The Ministry of Health in its pursuit of
developing high end technology services in
medical care is continuously evolving such areas
of development.
