 MISSION


To provide a nephrological services with comprehensive and complete preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitative care

We shall do this by,

  • EXPANDING EFFICIENT NEPHROLOGICAL IN-PATIENT AND OUTPATIENT SERVICES FOR HIGH STANDARD AND GOOD QUALITY OF PATIENT CARE,

  • EXTENDING SAFE, EFFECTIVE AND EASILY ACCESSIBLE RENAL REPLACEMENT THERAPY FOR IMPROVING QUALITY OF LIFE OF PATIENTS WITH END STAGE RENAL DISEASE,

  • INCORPORATING NEW TREATMENT MODALITIES FOR UPGRADING LEVEL OF PATIENTS CARE TO KEEP PACE WITH REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL STANDARD,

  • EDUCATING PATIENTS AND PUBLIC ON ALL ASPECTS OF RENAL DISEASES FOR PUBLIC AWARENESS ON PREVENTION, EARLY DETECTION AND APPROPRIATE TREATMENT OF RENAL DISEASES,

  • PROVIDING LOCAL AND OVERSEAS TRAINING AND WORKSHOPS FOR RENAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT STAFF TO DEVELOP SKILLED MANPOWER


IN-PATIENT SERVICES

The in-patient services care for renal patients is provided by the Renal Unit based at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital



SPECIALISTS’ RENAL CLINIC
It is open three days a week (Monday,Tuesday & Wednesday)
There are 1,493 patients (as of December 2006) registered at the clinic


ACUTE SUPPORTIVE SERVICES


These are provided in the form of Haemodialysis (HD), Peritoneal

Dialysis (PD) and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) depending on clinical demand


CONTINUOUS AMBULATORY PERITONEAL DIALYSIS


This service is provided by the CAPD Unit at the Rimba Dialysis Centre. There are 64 patients undergoing CAPD treatment (as of April 2007)

CHRONIC HAEMODIALYSIS (HD) SERVICES


There are four HD centres nationwide: RIPAS Renal Unit, Rimba Dialysis Centre, Kiarong Dialysis Centre and Suri Seri Begawan Dialysis Centre in Kuala Belait

RENAL TRANSPLANT CLINIC

The Department provides pre-transplant donor and recipient screening. Eligible donors and recipients are sent to Singapore General Hospital on the expense of the Brunei Government

CHRONIC DIALYSIS PATIENT REVIEW CLINIC
(HAEMODIALYSIS & PERITONEAL DIALYSIS)

These clinics provide comprehensive follow-up care for end-stage renal disease patients who are currently undergoing treatment

RENAL HEALTH PROMOTION UNIT (started March 2007)
 To provide a high standard of public awareness programme on prevention, early detection and proper treatment of kidney disease

OTHER SERVICES

Dietitian-provides advice on dietary restrictions for renal patients.

Medical Social Worker-Assists patients with social problems to enable them to receive treatment appropriately
