INTER-LIBRARY LOAN FACILITIES EXTERNAL MEMBERS

  1. Books required by staff of the Ministry of Health which are not held by the Medical Library RIPAS Hospital may be borrowed from other libraries through the Inter-Library Loan System. Requests may be made on inter-library loan forms to the Head of Circulation Unit (RIPAS Hospital). User who request the inter- library loan facilities must obey the rules where the books are loaned.
     
  2. Government Department, statutory bodies, libraries and other research institutions may apply for inter-library loan facilities to the Administrative Head of Medical Library:
    1. Requests for loans on standard inter-library loan forms must be made to the Administrative Head of Medical Library or to Head of Circulation Unit. RIPAS Hospital.
    2. The Library reserves the right not to loan any title from it collections which is rare, fragile or in heavy demand.
       
  3. Borrowing Privileges
    Users may borrow a total of 2 books.

  1. Renewals
    Returned books cannot be renewed so as to give chance to other users.
     
  2. Reservations
    1. A book already on loan to another borrower may be reserved.
    2. The user will be notified through telephone or email on books ready for collection.
    3. The book will be kept for 7 days from the date of notification. If it is not collected by the stipulated date the reservation will be cancelled.
    4. Reservations will be accepted until one hour before the library closes.
    5. Each book may not carry more than 2 reservations at any one time.
    6. Each user may reserve a maximum of 2 books.
    7. All reserved books must be collected personally.
    8. Reservations through the telephone will not be accepted.
       
  3. Overdue Books/Journals (Rates of Fines)
    1. 20 cents per day per book if it is returned 2 days after the due date.
    2. 30 cents per day per book if it is returned 10 days after the due date, calculated from the date due to the date the book is returned.
    3. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health has instructed to carry on the direct deduction of the salary after the final reminder has been issued.
       
  4. Each photocopy articles will be charged B$3.00 per articles. This cost is inclusive of service charge.
