Advisory on Hand, foot and mouth disease


TThe main advice is to always maintain self-hygiene and clean surrounding. Breaking this advice down into simple steps, parents and children should practice the following points below to prevent HFMD and reduce the risk of infection:

  1. Maintain self-hygiene: Wash your hands regularly with soap and clean water especially: after using the toilet, before preparing food after changing baby diapers or any sort of household work.
  2. Keep infected children away from public places and crowded areas such as markets, shopping complex, swimming pool, etc.
  3. Keep the infected children away from school to prevent HFMD infections with other children.
  4. Don't let siblings play with infected brothers and sisters before they are fully cured.
  5. Cleaning and disinfecting any surface dirty surface including toys.

​IMPORTANT:
Bring your child to the nearest health centre or clinic or hospital as soon as he or she show signs of HMFD​ infection.
