LABORATORY ANALYSIS FOR IMPORTED FOOD

 

Any laboratory analysis reports submitted to this Division should be:

(1)   Issued by the relevant authority of the country OR from an accredited laboratory and uses accredited methodology.​

(2)   Recent and valid. If no validity date is stated on the report, the analysis is valid one (1) year from the date it was issued.

(3)   Be relevant to the purpose of its submission (e.g. to verify the safety or quality of the product, to check that the additives are below the set maximum limits, to verify that it does not contain a banned ingredient or is not adulterated etc.)


FOOD IMPORT REGISTRATION

Laboratory analysis reports can be requested during the Food Import Registration stage by a Food Officer. This is usually to ensure that;

  • There are no adulteration of harmful substances
  • The product does not contain additives that exceeds the limit as set in the Public Health (Food) Regulations, (R1 Chapter 182)


HEALTH ENDORSEMENT

Laboratory analysis reports submitted for the purpose of Health Endorsement should, depending on the product, reflect the safety of the product in the form of:

  1. Microbiological Analysis
  2. Heavy Metal Contaminant Analysis

 

If the manufacturer or exporter is unable to provide certification that declares the products are safe for consumption, they can send their product samples to the Department of Scientific Services, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Health, Jalan Menteri Besar, Brunei Darussalam for laboratory analysis at their own cost.
