Sunday, 07 Rabiulakhir 1445 / 22 October 2023 – In conjunction with Allied Health Professionals Day celebrated worldwide in the month of October, The Ministry of Health has organised the Allied Health Professions Symposium on October 22, 2023, at the Dewan Al'-Afiah, Ministry of Health.

 

With the theme centered on 'Healthy Ageing', the symposium provides a valuable opportunity for all Allied Health Professionals to unite and spotlight the significant impact they have in delivering high-quality care to patients of all ages with a special focus on the elderly population. It aims to bring together consultants, health practitioners, health care workers and professional experts working together and exploring pivotal aspects of enhancing well-being amongst elderly.

 

The half-day symposium is graced by the Minister of Health, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Hj Mohammad Isham bin Hj Jaafar as the Guest of Honour and it will feature banner exhibitions, talk presentations led by the distinguished Geriatric consultant and experts from various Allied Health disciplines, and lastly concluded with a forum discussion. Together, they pool their expertise by addressing the health challenges encountered by our elderly population. A total of an estimated 360 health professionals from the government and private sectors are attending this symposium. Attendees can look forward to insightful presentations and engaging panel discussions that encompass latest information in geriatric care, rehabilitation, nutrition, and mental health support.

 

In Brunei Darussalam, the Ministry of Health currently boasts a clinical workforce of 319 Allied Health Professionals. They collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to enhance the welfare and well-being of patients. They play a pivotal role, working hand-in-hand with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Together, they ensure comprehensive care by considering the patient's physical, mental, emotional, and social needs and develops strategies that addresses all aspects of the person's life.

 

This event aligns with the vision and mission of Ministry of Health in promoting health care and advocating for healthy ageing within our community. With the combined expertise of Allied Health Professionals and other healthcare experts, the aim is to forge a brighter, healthier future for all.

 

Also present at this ceremony was Dr Ang Swee Hui, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) Ministry of Health, Heads of Departments, along with officials and staff at the Ministry of Health.
